News Capsule: USDA November Report: India’s Soymeal Production Falls, Exports Drop Sharply
★ According to the latest USDA November report, significant changes are seen in India’s soymeal sector for 2025–26. Production, exports, and ending stocks have all declined, impacting both domestic availability and India’s competitiveness in the global market.
★ India’s soymeal production for 2025–26 is estimated at 7.24 lakh tons, down by 15.6 lakh tons from last year’s 8.8 lakh tons. Lower soybean crushing and weaker yields have directly affected production.
★ Soymeal exports have seen a steep decline. Compared to 12 lakh tons in 2024–25, exports are projected to fall to just 6 lakh tons in 2025–26 — a drop of more than 50%. Strong supply from Argentina and Brazil has reduced India’s competitiveness in the international soymeal market.
★ India’s domestic consumption stands at 69.8 lakh tons, slightly lower than last year’s 70 lakh tons.
★ India’s ending stocks are estimated to fall from 2.7 lakh tons to 1.9 lakh tons. With lower production and shrinking exports, stock management may become challenging.
★ Overall, India’s soymeal sector is under pressure due to weak production and declining export demand. Global competition, changes in feed demand, and soybean availability will determine market direction in the coming months.
