Paddy procurement started in Haryana from 27 September - Government procurement of 46 thousand tonnes till 1 October

Chandigarh. The campaign for government procurement of paddy has formally started from 27 September 2024 in Haryana, a leading state contributing rice to the central pool.
A little more than 46 thousand tonnes of paddy was purchased by government agencies from farmers at the minimum support price (MSP) till October 1.
According to official sources, more than 46 thousand tonnes of paddy has been procured so far in 241 mandis (purchase centers) across the state of Haryana, benefiting more than 7500 farmers. About 1200 tonnes of paddy was lifted on October 1.
The government is trying to ensure payment of its price on time. An amount of Rs 2 crore has been deposited in the bank accounts of farmers.
Along with paddy, now the government procurement of millet from farmers at the support price has also started. For this, 91 procurement centers have been opened. Its procurement has already reached above 25 thousand quintals.
According to the government spokesperson, the procurement of paddy is going on smoothly and its process will continue till November 15.
The Haryana government is committed to ensure the protection of the economic interests of its farming community and the procurement process will be conducted in a better manner during the entire marketing season.
It is noteworthy that the Central Government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy for the Kharif marketing season of 2024-25 at Rs 2300 per quintal for the general category and Rs 2320 per quintal for 'A' grade, while the market support price has been fixed at Rs 2625 per quintal.
Paddy and millet are being procured in Haryana at this support price. The pace of procurement is expected to increase rapidly in the coming days.
