Sodiso. The weather in the central part of the Latin American country Brazil has remained very hot and dry since May. In some areas, the temperature has reached 100 to 108 degrees Fahrenheit and the moisture in the fields has completely vanished. Due to this, sowing of soybean and maize is getting badly affected there. The sowing season has started only last month but till now its pace is seen to be very slow. The weather department has expressed the possibility of good rains there in the coming dry days, which is badly needed. It is worth mentioning that Mato Grosso, located in this central region, is considered to be the most important soybean producing province in Brazil. The farmers there are completely ready for sowing, but agricultural experts are advising that till there is good rain, there should be no hurry in sowing. Last week, there was some rain in central Brazil, but it did not provide a strong base for sowing. Soybean cultivation is getting delayed continuously, which may lead to a decline in its yield and total production. In the beginning and middle of October, soybean sowing was possible in less than 1 percent of the area in Mato Grosso province of Brazil, which clearly indicates the extremely adverse weather conditions there. The soybean sowing season has started from September 10 itself. If the weather remains favorable, then farmers there can sow soybean in about 15 percent area every week. On the other hand, there has been good rain in southern Brazil for the last few weeks and hence sowing is not being hampered there. In Parana province, 60 percent of corn and 22 percent of soybean sowing has already been done.
