Possibility of Rising Pulses Inflation Due to Lower Future Stock: CRISIL Report
★ According to a CRISIL report, after the increase in yellow pea imports and the removal of import duties, prices of all pulses were affected. However, due to several factors, pulse prices may rise in the future.
★ CRISIL stated that with limited buffer stock of pulses in the country and slow government procurement, it will be difficult to control pulse prices.
★ In the previous season, a large quantity of pulses—mainly chickpeas—was procured, which helped ensure availability through periodic sales and impacted prices. However, with currently low stock levels, government intervention may be limited.
