Pressure on urad market, prices continue to fall

Urad prices have been witnessing a continuous decline over the past few months, which is affecting the Indian market.

As per data, Myanmar FAQ urad was priced at 870 dollars per tonne in January, which dropped to 785 dollars by 19 September.

Similarly, Myanmar SQ urad slipped from 970 dollars in January to 865 dollars now. This means a fall of 85–105 dollars since January.

However, the positive side is that currently only Myanmar has sufficient stock of urad. Brazil’s crop is priced very high, while in India, heavy rains have damaged the domestic crop, which may affect both quality and quantity.

Experts believe that under such circumstances, exporters may raise prices. If export prices rise further, it will also impact the domestic market, leading to a possible surge in urad prices.
