Pulse Relief
★ The government has taken key decisions to support pulse farmers, providing much-needed relief and improving market stability.
★ The procurement period for tur (pigeon pea) in Karnataka has been extended by 30 days, now continuing until May 15, 2026. Procurement is being carried out under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹8,000 per quintal, giving farmers more time to sell their produce at assured prices.
★ In Andhra Pradesh, the government has approved an increase in gram procurement. The total target has been raised to 113,000 tonnes, including an additional 94,500 tonnes. Gram is being procured at the MSP of ₹5,875 per quintal, helping protect farmers from distress sales.
★ These measures aim to strengthen MSP operations, support farmers, and maintain price stability in the market.
