Purchase limit of groundnut and soya increased in Madhya Pradesh
The decision to increase the purchase limit of groundnut and soya in Madhya Pradesh is a positive move aimed at benefiting farmers by allowing them to sell more of their produce at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). On November 14, the Ministry of Agriculture and NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India) agreed to raise the daily purchase limit for these crops from 25 quintals to 40 quintals per farmer.
This move will enable farmers to sell a larger quantity of their produce directly to government agencies at the MSP, which is expected to provide them with better income security and help in managing the surplus production. The decision is likely to alleviate some of the financial pressures on farmers by ensuring that they have more avenues to sell their crops at a fair price without the fear of distress selling at lower market rates.
Such steps are crucial, especially for states like Madhya Pradesh, which are major producers of groundnut and soya, as they help stabilize both prices and income for farmers.
