Jaipur. Due to good sowing of wheat, barley, gram, and mustard in the western state of Rajasthan, the total Rabi crop area has jumped to 94.04 lakh hectares as of November 24, 2025, which is 7.52 lakh hectares more than the 86.56 lakh hectares sown during the same period last year. Vigorous sowing of various crops is still underway in the state.

According to the latest data from the State Agriculture Department, during the current Rabi season, compared to last year, the wheat area in Rajasthan has jumped from 18.53 lakh hectares to 25.42 lakh hectares, and the barley area has improved from 2.89 lakh hectares to 3.22 lakh hectares.

Similarly, the area under gram also increased from 18.53 lakh hectares to 20.28 lakh hectares, but the area under other pulses declined from 36 thousand hectares to 24 thousand hectares.

Among oilseed crops, mustard production increased from 31.64 lakh hectares to 32.80 lakh hectares, and the area under taramira jumped from 75 thousand hectares to 1.15 lakh hectares, while the area under linseed remained stable at 10 thousand hectares.

It is worth noting that Rajasthan is the leading producer of mustard and barley in the country, and is among the top producers of gram and wheat. It is also among the top five states contributing wheat to the central pool.

Given the high market price of mustard, an increase in its sowing area was already expected. This year, farmers are also showing significant interest in cultivating other crops.
