New Delhi. Indian farmers are showing great enthusiasm for Rabi crop cultivation this year due to high Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) and favorable weather and soil conditions.

Consequently, the total Rabi crop production area has increased to 208.19 lakh hectares as of November 14, 2025, representing a 10.3 percent increase from the 188.73 lakh hectares sown during the same period last year.

Compared to last year, the area sown for all categories of Rabi crops – wheat, paddy, pulses, oilseeds, and coarse grains – is increasing, which is a positive sign for the Indian agricultural sector. The weather is fully supporting Indian farmers in sowing.

According to the latest weekly report of the Union Agriculture Ministry, during the current Rabi season, compared to last year, the area under wheat has increased from 56.55 lakh hectares to 66.23 lakh hectares, the area under paddy has improved from 6.82 lakh hectares to 7.44 lakh hectares,

Among pulse crops, the area under gram has increased from 34.04 lakh hectares to 37.43 lakh hectares, and the area under lentil has increased from 6.08 lakh hectares to 6.83 lakh hectares.

Similarly, among oilseed crops, the area under mustard/rapeseed has increased from 60.52 lakh hectares to 64.3 lakh hectares. Among coarse grains,

As expected, the area under production of all three major Rabi season crops – wheat, gram, and mustard – is increasing significantly, followed by the sowing of lentils, peas, maize, barley, and sorghum. Among oilseeds, mustard cultivation is being given the highest priority.
