Jaipur. Due to a reduction in sowing area this year and heavy rains and floods, the country's third largest soybean producer, Rajasthan, is projected to experience a significant decline in the production of this important Kharif season oilseed.
According to the Indore-based Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA), the soybean sowing area in Rajasthan during the 2025-26 Kharif season has declined to 9.07 lakh hectares, a decrease of 2.06 lakh hectares from last year's 11.13 lakh hectares.
Similarly, due to significant crop damage caused by natural disasters, the average soybean yield is expected to decline from 946 kg per hectare to 625 kg per hectare.
Based on this, SOPA has estimated soybean production in Rajasthan to decline from 10.53 lakh tonnes last year to 5.67 lakh tonnes this year.
