Commitment of Traders (COT) data showed soybean speculators at a net short position of 353 contracts as of October 7, a reduction of 38,359 contracts in the net short position during the week.
According to USDA’s monthly Fats & Oils report, a total of 198 million bushels of soybeans were crushed in August, a record for the month and 18.19% higher than last year, though 3.48% below the July total. Soybean oil stocks were reported at 1.79 billion pounds, down 4.62% from the end of July but 9.71% higher than a year ago.
Data from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange showed soybean planting advancing 12% during the week to reach 24.6%, still 11% behind the same week last year.
