USDA released delayed Export Sales data on Tuesday morning, showing soybean sales at 785,003 MT for the week of 10/9. This was on the lower end of the 0.5–1.4 MMT trade estimates and was the lowest in three weeks, down 53.9% from the same week last year. China had not made any purchases by that point.
Soybean meal sales were 358,406 MT, on the high side of the 150,000–400,000 MT estimates. Soybean oil sales reached 1,924 MT, below the 5,000–30,000 MT expectations.
Commitment of Traders data showed soybean speculators holding a net short position of 391 contracts as of October 14, an increase of only 38 contracts for the week.
ANEC estimates Brazil’s November soybean exports at 4.4 MMT, a reduction of 0.31 MMT from the previous estimate.
