After the market closed, President Trump posted that he is “considering terminating business with China, having to do with cooking oil and other elements of trade,” in response to China not purchasing U.S. soybeans.
Export Inspection data showed 994,008 MT (36.52 million bushels) of soybeans shipped during the week ending October 9. This was up 26.9% from the prior week but down 49.9% from the same week last year. China remained absent from the weekly data as seasonal exports were subdued. Mexico was the top destination with 195,947 MT, followed by Spain with 182,090 MT and Bangladesh with 117,598 MT.
Marketing year-to-date shipments have totaled 4.04 MMT (148.45 million bushels), down 26% year over year.
NOPA crush data will be released on Wednesday, with traders expecting September crush at 186.34 million bushels.
According to CONAB, Brazil’s 2025/26 soybean production is projected at 177.64 MMT, slightly below last month’s 177.67 MMT estimate. ANEC estimates Brazil’s October soybean exports at 7.31 MMT, up 0.19 MMT from last week.
