Soybean Planting in Brazil Speeds Up Compared to Last Year

Brasilia. Soybean planting in the Latin American country of Brazil began in September, and by October 3, approximately 9% of the area had been completed. Last year, only 4% of the area had been sown by October 3.
This year's sowing pace is considered the second-fastest ever, clearly indicating that weather and rainfall conditions are normal in Brazil, and that farmers' enthusiasm and interest in soybean cultivation remains intact.
It is noteworthy that Brazil is the world's leading producer and exporter of soybeans. Sowing is progressing rapidly in its two top producing states, Mato Grosso and Paraná.
By October 3, 2025, soybean planting had been completed in 15% of the area in Mato Grosso and 26% in Paraná, while sowing in other states begins last.
During the first 15 days of the current month (October), the weather in most parts of Brazil was generally dry, with little rainfall. However, good rainfall is expected in the next 15 days. This could provide a good opportunity for farmers to accelerate soybean sowing.
China is importing large quantities of soybean from Brazil, which could provide good income to farmers. If weather conditions remain favorable,
production of this important oilseed could increase by 2 million tons to an all-time high of 175 million tons. Brazil also achieved record soybean production in the 2024-25 season.
