Strong Inflow of Maize in Madhya Pradesh

There is a robust arrival of new-season maize in the major producing markets (mandis) of Madhya Pradesh. Today, approximately 50,000 bags of maize were recorded at the Guna mandi, while the combined arrivals at the Patan and Jabalpur mandis range between 25,000 and 30,000 quintals.

Meanwhile, procurement for delivery at rail-head (rack) points has also commenced. In early trading, prices for rack-point delivery opened at ₹2,550 per quintal, a development expected to bolster procurement activity for the new maize crop.

Prices in the mandis vary based on quality; top-quality maize—suitable for poultry feed—is trading at ₹2,470 to ₹2,500 per quintal. Conversely, maize intended for ethanol production is fetching prices in the range of ₹2,350 to ₹2,400 per quintal.

Overall, the mandis in Madhya Pradesh are experiencing significant pressure from the influx of new maize. The market's future direction will likely be determined by the volume of arrivals, the pace of rack-point procurement, and demand from the poultry feed and ethanol industries in the coming days.
