Chennai. The Tamil Nadu government has announced to increase the amount of agricultural loan for the current financial year (2025-26) to Rs 17,000 crore, which will make it easier for farmers to purchase necessary equipment for farming.

Apart from this, a loan of Rs 3000 crore will also be made available for animal husbandry development. During the financial year 2024-25, a loan of Rs 15,062 crore was distributed to 17.37 lakh farmers of the state, while a loan of Rs 2645 crore was distributed for animal husbandry development, which benefited 4.43 lakh animal breeders. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu himself makes serious efforts in this direction.

The result of the efforts of the Chief Minister has been that the farmers get agricultural loan approved on the same day they submit online application for it.

This instant crop loan scheme is an exemplary example. According to the government release, the loan is sanctioned for the farmer through Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) on the same day when he applies online.

It is worth mentioning that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had launched this instant crop loan scheme through PACS on a pilot basis in Dharmapuri district on 17 August and later it was extended to other districts of the state.

It is worth noting that Tamil Nadu is a state where a separate budget is presented for the agriculture sector.
