Target of production of 34.155 crore tonnes of food grains for 2024-25 season

New Delhi. The Union Agriculture Minister has said that a target of production of 34.155 crore tonnes of food grains will be set for the 2024-25 season and every effort will be made to achieve it.
It is noteworthy that a National Agriculture Conference for Rabi Abhiyan 2024 was organized at the NASC Complex in New Delhi yesterday to assess and review the production performance of various crops during the last crop season and to set production targets for different crops for the Rabi season.
Addressing the conference, the Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister said that there is a need to promote organic and natural farming to increase crop productivity and reduce dependence on the use of chemicals and fertilizers.
The government's effort is to increase productivity on the one hand and reduce cost on the other so that farmers can get help in ensuring the real price of their products.
There is a need to reduce transportation cost to bridge the gap between purchase price and selling price and a committee has been formed to suggest measures for this. States need to work together with the Centre to increase productivity.
The Agriculture Minister said that to make India the largest food basket in the world, there is a need to change the method of farming and emphasis should be laid on adopting new methods and technology as much as possible. The Government of India is ready to implement all the suggestions given by various ministries and state governments.
In his address on this occasion, the Union Minister of State for Agriculture urged all the state governments to take immediate concrete measures to help the farmers affected by the damage to crops due to heavy rains and storms.
Apart from this, senior officials and researchers should also inspect and test the quality of agricultural inputs coming to the market.
Sowing of Rabi crops has started and the government has also announced its Minimum Support Price (MSP). The availability of fertilizers and seeds is being increased.
