Import and Export Scenario
★ Between April and August 2025, India imported a total of 2.86 lakh tonnes of urad, compared to 3.21 lakh tonnes during the same period in 2024.
★ Myanmar exported 7.33 lakh tonnes of urad between January and October 2025, slightly lower than 7.9 lakh tonnes last year.
★ Exports were the highest in September 2025, reaching 1.15 lakh tonnes — the peak level for the year.
~~~~~~~~~
Indian Crop Condition and Future Outlook
★ Heavy rains in India’s main producing states have affected the urad crop.
★ Market arrivals are lower compared to last year, causing some fluctuations in domestic prices.
★ However, despite the crop damage in India, prices have not risen as much as expected due to Myanmar’s record production last year and the likelihood of another strong crop this year.
★ Myanmar’s new crop will arrive from March 2026, and until then, imported urad will continue to meet domestic demand — which could support higher prices in the coming months.
