Weak Rainfall Threatens Tur Crop in Gulbarga Region

Monsoon conditions in the Gulbarga region remain weak. Due to insufficient rainfall, the sowing of the Tur crop has lagged behind compared to last year; furthermore, in areas where sowing has already taken place, the crop is beginning to suffer adverse effects due to a lack of moisture.

The prolonged absence of good rainfall is causing rapid depletion of soil moisture, and in many places, the Tur crop is on the verge of withering. Farmers are now awaiting good rainfall. If adequate rain does not arrive soon, there is a risk that both the growth and productivity of the Tur crop will be adversely affected.
