Chickpea Market Continues to Decline, Imported Inventories and Weak Demand Put Prices Under Pressure

New Delhi. The chickpea market remained subdued during the current week. Chickpea prices remained under pressure due to a lack of demand and sluggish buying by dal millers. The increased availability of imported chickpeas at the port has led to panic selling in the market, which is clearly visible in local markets, and prices remain weak. Meanwhile, demand for chickpeas and gram flour is lower than normal, making any improvement in prices unlikely in the near future. Traders say that if demand does not pick up or millers' buying does not improve, this weakness in the chickpea market may continue. Due to subdued buying by dal millers, Delhi gram prices witnessed a decline of Rs 125/150 per quintal this week and with this decline, Madhya Pradesh line prices remained at Rs 5625/5650 and Rajasthan line prices remained at Rs 5700/5725 per quintal at the end of the week.
