Lentil prices continue to fluctuate as demand remains normal

Mumbai. During the current week, lentil prices fluctuated as availability remained and buying remained calm. ABARES had given figures of 17 lakh tonnes of lentil production in Australia in its September report, but the industry is not satisfied with it. The industry believes that the production can be 10 lakh tonnes, which was 15.7 lakh tonnes last year and about 17 lakh tonnes in the previous year. The industry believes that the availability of red lentil export from Australia can be 10-12 lakh tonnes. Red lentil production in Canada is expected to be 16 lakh tonnes. Due to improvement in demand, Mumbai lentil prices recorded an improvement of Rs 25/50 per quintal this week. And with this improvement, the price at the weekend became Mundra Rs 5925/50, Hazira Rs 5950/75 and container Rs 6100/6150 per quintal. Similarly, Kolkata Masoor improved by 25/50 rupees per quintal and reached 6200/6275 rupees per quintal at the weekend.

Delhi

Due to sluggish buying by dal millers, Delhi Masoor prices declined by 25 rupees per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Chhoti Kota 6550 rupees, Bundi 7050 rupees, Uttar Pradesh 7125 rupees and Desi Badi 6550 rupees per quintal at the weekend.

Madhya Pradesh

Due to weak demand, Madhya Pradesh Masoor prices witnessed a rise and fall of 50 rupees per quintal this week and the prices remained at Ashoknagar 5800/5900 rupees, Sagar 5600/6000 rupees, Damoh 5800/6400 rupees, Indore 6000 rupees and Katni 6525 rupees per quintal at the weekend.

Uttar Pradesh

Due to normal demand, no movement was seen in Uttar Pradesh lentil prices during the current week and the prices remained stable at Bareilly Chhoti Rs. 7150, Moti Rs. 6600/6625, Kanpur Rs. 6500 and Lalitpur Moti Rs. 5800/5950, Chhoti Rs. 6300/6400 per quintal at the weekend.

Others

Due to weak buying, a fall of Rs. 50 per quintal was seen in Bihar lentil prices this week and the prices remained at Barh Rs. 6700, Khusrupur Rs. 6600 and Mokama Rs. 6700 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Raipur lentil price fell by Rs. 50 per quintal and remained at Rs. 6250 per quintal at the weekend.

Masoor Dal

Due to sluggish demand, no rise or fall was seen in the prices of Masoor Dal this week and the prices remained stable at Jalgaon Rs. 7500, Indore Rs. 7500, Barh Rs. 7750/8050 and Khusrupur Rs. 7650/7950 per quintal during the weekend.
