Softening in Mustard Prices Due to Weak Demand
New Delhi: Mustard prices saw a decline of ₹100–200 per quintal during the week of September 12–18, as demand softened somewhat at higher price levels.
42% Condition Mustard
The price of 42% condition mustard dropped by ₹150 to ₹8,200 per quintal in Delhi and fell by ₹100 to ₹8,400 per quintal in Jaipur.
Mustard Seed
Similarly, prices for average quality mustard also saw a decline of ₹100 per quintal. However, prices strengthened by ₹200 per quintal in Hisar and by ₹100 per quintal in Kota. Prices remained lower in other markets across Rajasthan, as well as in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. A softening of ₹100 was also observed in Kolkata.
Mustard Oil / Kachi Ghani
Consequently, prices for mustard oil (expeller and Kachi Ghani) recorded a decline of ₹10–20 per 10 kg. The price of expeller oil fell by ₹20 to ₹1,660 per 10 kg in Delhi and by ₹25 to ₹1,660 per 10 kg in Charkhi Dadri. Similarly, the price of Kachi Ghani mustard oil dropped by ₹25 to ₹1,665 per 10 kg in Jaipur and by ₹20 to ₹1,620 per 10 kg in Bharatpur. Prices for Kachi Ghani mustard oil also fell by ₹20 per 10 kg in both Hapur and Agra.
Arrivals
At the national level, daily mustard arrivals in the markets declined to a range of 1.50–2.25 lakh bags. Each bag of mustard weighs 50 kg. Arrivals were recorded at 1.50 lakh bags each on September 12 and 14, 2.00 lakh bags each on September 15, 17, and 18, and 2.25 lakh bags on September 16.
