After a long rally, mustard market witnessed a slight softening
New Delhi. For the last few weeks, mustard market was witnessing a rapid rise and in most of the mandis, its price jumped above the government support price. It was expected that due to the 20 percent increase in import duty on edible oils by the government, the trend of rise and strength in the prices of mustard and its value added products will continue and this is being seen in some mandis, but in other mandis, during the week of 20-26 September, it softened by Rs 100-200 per quintal.
42% condition mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42 percent condition mustard fell by Rs 150 to Rs 6750 per quintal in Delhi and by Rs 50 in Jaipur to Rs 6975/7000 per quintal. The price of mustard in Deesa and Dhanera Mandi of Gujarat decreased by 75-75 rupees in Morena and Porsa Mandi and 200 rupees per quintal in Gwalior.
Rajasthan
But a mixed trend was seen in the major producing states. There, the price of mustard jumped by 400 rupees to 5900/6200 rupees per quintal in Bikaner, increased by 150 rupees to 6400 rupees per quintal in Ganganagar and improved by 100 rupees to 6300 rupees per quintal in Bundi, but fell by 200 rupees to 6000/6400 rupees per quintal in Kota Mandi. There was a softening of 110-110 rupees in Newai Tonk. Minor fluctuations were seen in other mandis.
Uttar Pradesh
The price of mustard in Hapur Mandi of Uttar Pradesh increased by Rs 200 and reached Rs 7000 per quintal, but in Agra Mandi it remained at the previous level of Rs 7300/7750 per quintal.
Mustard Oil
Fluctuation was also seen in the price of mustard oil. The price of expeller in Delhi fell by Rs 30 to Rs 1385 per 10 kg and in Charkhi Dadri it fell by Rs 20 to Rs 1405 per 10 kg. Morena and Mumbai also saw a decline of Rs 30 each, while the price of Kachi Ghani oil in Bharatpur improved by Rs 20 and reached Rs 1480 per 10 kg. In Kolkata it rose by Rs 50 and reached Rs 1500, but in Agra it fell by Rs 30to Rs 1490.
Arrival
Arrival of mustard was recorded at 2.70-2.70 lakh bags on 20-21 September, 3.25-3.25 lakh bags on 23, 24 and 25 September and 2.75 lakh bags on 26 September.
