Mustard prices strengthened due to demand from crushing mills
New Delhi. The trend of rise and rise in mustard prices continued during the week of 26 July - 1 August due to strong demand from traders and crushers-processors.
42% condition mustard
The price of 42 percent condition mustard increased by Rs 100 to Rs 7200 per quintal in Delhi, while it fell by Rs 50 to Rs 7550 per quintal in Jaipur. The price of normal average quality mustard also increased by Rs 50-100 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
But the market remained mixed in Madhya Pradesh. There, the price of mustard improved by Rs 50-50 in Morena and Porsa, but remained soft by Rs 100 in Gwalior Mandi. Similarly, in Rajasthan, the price of mustard decreased in Jaipur and Ganganagar, while it increased by Rs 50-100 in other mandis. There was limited trading of mustard at high prices in Hapur and Agra Mandi of Uttar Pradesh, hence prices remained stable to a large extent. There was a softening of Rs 100 in Kolkata.
Arrival
During the week under review, limited arrival of mustard was recorded in important mandis of major producing states of the country. On July 26, 3 lakh bags (each bag of 50 kg) arrived.
Mustard Oil (Kachi Ghani)
The price of mustard oil expeller and Kachi Ghani has already reached a very high level and hence some softening was recorded during the week. But in Delhi, the price of expeller increased by Rs 15 to Rs 1625 per 10 kg. On the other hand, the price of Kachi Ghani oil in Agra increased by Rs 30 to Rs 1650 per 10 kg, but in most of the other centers it fell by Rs 5 to 15. In Hapur, Kachi Ghani oil declined by Rs 20 to Rs 1750/1800 per 10 kg.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
In mustard cake, prices fluctuated by Rs 10-20 per quintal amid normal trading. In Charkhi Dadri, it increased by Rs 30 to Rs 2200 per quintal and in Bharatpur, it improved by Rs 20 to Rs 2280 per quintal.
Stock Sale
Government agency- NAFED / HAFED is getting good success in selling its stock of mustard at high prices. But its stock is decreasing rapidly.
