Limited improvement in mustard prices due to reduced arrivals and normal demand

New Delhi. Due to slow discharge of stocks by farmers in the markets and normal demand from traders/millers, mustard prices improved by Rs 50-100 per quintal during the week of July 12-18. Not much fluctuation was seen in the edible oil-oilseeds market.

42% Conditioned Mustard

The price of 42 percent conditioned mustard remained stable at Rs 5950 per quintal in Delhi, while it improved by Rs 50 to Rs 6100/6125 per quintal in Jaipur.

Gujarat/Haryana

The price of loose mustard rose by Rs 200 to Rs 5250/5500 per quintal in Deesa and Dhanera Mandi of Gujarat. There was an improvement of Rs 54 in Adampur, Haryana and Rs 75 in Barwala, but there was a decline of Rs 100 in Hisar. The price of Charkhi Dadri remained stable but in Sirsa it increased by Rs. 100 to reach Rs. 5400/5700 per quintal.

Madhya Pradesh

The markets of Madhya Pradesh remained calm and the price of mustard remained stable at the previous level in Morena, Porsa and Gwalior. The price of mustard in Hapur and Agra Mandi of Uttar Pradesh fell by Rs. 25 to Rs. 6075 per quintal and Rs. 6300/6475 per quintal respectively.

Rajasthan

Fluctuation in the prices of mustard was seen in the markets of Rajasthan, the most prominent producing state. There, its price increased by Rs. 100 to Rs. 5600 per quintal in Ganganagar and jumped by Rs. 225 to reach Rs. 5500 per quintal in Bundi, while in other markets the price either remained stable at the old level or softened by Rs. 50-70 per quintal.

Arrival

At the national level, the arrival of mustard in the mandis of major producing states was recorded at 3.75 lakh bags on July 12, 2.50 lakh bags on July 17 and 3.25 lakh bags on July 18. Each bag of mustard weighs 50 kg. Farmers have a good stock of mustard right now, but due to the mandi price being below the government support price, they are not in any hurry to unload their stock. NAFED also has a huge stock of mustard.

Mustard oil

The price of mustard oil weakened. In Khairthal, Bharatpur and Alwar, the price of Kachi Ghani mustard oil fell by Rs 20-20 per 10 kg.
