Mustard prices rise by ₹50-₹100 due to buying by crushing units

New Delhi. Due to limited buying by crushing and processing units and normal arrivals in the markets, mustard prices either remained stable or fluctuated by ₹50-₹100 per quintal during the week of October 4-10.
Sowing
The sowing season for mustard, the most important oilseed crop of the Rabi season, has officially begun, and acreage is expected to increase due to high market conditions and a significant increase in the minimum support price (MSP).
42% Condition Mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42% condition mustard seeds increased by ₹100 to ₹7,100 per quintal in Delhi and by ₹50 to ₹7,150 per quintal in Jaipur. In Gujarat, mustard seeds of normal average quality rose by ₹50-₹60. In Haryana, prices rose by ₹100 in Sirsa, but fell by ₹100 in Hisar to ₹6300/₹6600 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Mustard prices remained at previous levels in the Morena, Porsa, and Gwalior markets of Madhya Pradesh. There was no significant fluctuation in prices in the Hapur and Agra markets of Uttar Pradesh, but they softened by ₹50 in Kolkata. In Rajasthan, the leading producer, mustard prices improved slightly in Bharatpur, Bundi, Newai, and Tonk, while they fell by ₹100 in Bikaner.
Mustard Oil
Like mustard, prices of expeller and crude oil experienced limited fluctuations. Expeller prices rose by ₹5 in Delhi to ₹1455 per 10 kg, while in Charkhi Dadri, they rose by ₹15 to ₹1480 per 10 kg. Similarly, the price of crude mustard oil jumped by ₹30 to ₹1,480 in Agra and ₹20 in Kolkata to ₹1,610 per 10 kg.
Arrivals
Because of high prices in the markets, mustard is receiving normal arrivals. In almost all major markets, mustard prices are trading above the minimum support price, which is expected to increase farmers' interest in cultivating mustard during the current Rabi season.
Increase in MSP
The government has significantly increased the minimum support price for mustard for the 2025-26 marketing season. Farmers, traders, and government agencies have a good stock of mustard, ensuring regular supply.
