Normal fluctuations in the prices of paddy and rice amid limited trading

New Delhi. However, the Central Government has allowed duty-free export of non-Basmati white (raw) rice with a minimum export price (MAP) of $ 490 per tonne. The export duty on Sela rice has been reduced from 20 percent to 10 percent and the MAP of $ 950 per tonne fixed for Basmati rice has been withdrawn, due to which an increase in the prices of paddy and rice was expected, but at present no clear indication of this has come out.
Delhi
During the week from 3 to 9 October, the prices of 1509 paddy in Delhi's Narela Mandi fluctuated by 20 to 50 rupees, while the price of Vishnu Bhog in Chhattisgarh's Bhatpara Mandi increased by 200 rupees to 3700 rupees per quintal. 1847 paddy in Fazilka, Punjab was up by 50 rupees.
Uttar Pradesh
But in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, 1509 paddy fell by Rs 50. In Jahangirabad also, it fell by Rs 100 per quintal. In Aligarh, it fell by Rs 232 but in Shahjahanpur it rose by Rs 100 to reach Rs 2200/2700 per quintal.
Punjab / Haryana
During the week under review, the arrival of 1509 Basmati paddy continued in the markets of Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh, but the arrival of general category paddy was very less. In other states, the preparation and harvesting of the new crop has not yet gained momentum, while the farmers do not have old stock either, so the hustle and bustle in the markets is likely to start after a few days. In Tohana Mandi of Haryana, the price of 1509 and 1847 paddy fell by Rs 210 per quintal.
In fact, due to the ongoing tension between Israel and Iran in West Asia, the export of Basmati rice is likely to be affected, so millers and exporters are being very cautious in purchasing Basmati rice from farmers. There is a good inflow of rice in UP and Haryana. In Kota, Rajasthan, the price of 1509 rice increased by Rs 700 to Rs 2900 per quintal.
Rice
Rice prices fluctuated by Rs 100-200 per quintal, but in Bundi, Rajasthan, the price of 1509 rice fell by Rs 550 to Rs 5350/5400 per quintal. In Karnataka also, it fell by Rs 200. There was a rise and fall of Rs 100-200 in Ahmedabad and Kanpur.
