Pea prices fluctuate due to slow buying

Kanpur. Mixed trend was seen in the pea market during the current week. Prices remained under pressure due to increased selling at increased prices and slow buying. Also, the fall in gram also affected the purchase of peas, due to which the purchase of dal millers remained limited. The pea market in Canada is currently calm. The exporters there are waiting for the arrival of the new crop. The old stock is limited and the buyers are not showing much interest in the forward contract at the moment. American pea prices: 5.5–5.75 US$/ton (FOB form) and Canadian pea prices: 7.5–8.5 CAD$/ton (FOB form) Recently, there has been good rainfall in the main pea producing areas in Canada, which has benefited the condition of the crop. There is a possibility of increase in productivity. Due to sluggish buying and selling, no increase or decrease was observed in the prices of imported peas during the current week and the prices remained stable at Mumbai Canada 3550 rupees, Russia 3325 rupees and currency Canada 3375/3400 rupees and Russia 3200 rupees per quintal during the weekend. While the prices of Kolkata peas also fluctuated by 25 rupees per quintal this week and the prices remained Canada 3725 rupees and Russia 3425/3525 rupees per quintal. Due to sluggish buying, no increase or decrease was observed in the prices of Kanpur peas this week and the prices remained stable at 3625/3675 rupees per quintal during the weekend. While the prices of Lalitpur peas declined by 50/100 rupees per quintal this week and the prices remained at 3100/3350 rupees per quintal during the weekend. Due to customer support, Orai peas rose by Rs. 75 per quintal this week and reached Rs. 3200/3350 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Mahoba peas also rose by Rs. 100 per quintal this week and reached Rs. 3400/3600 per quintal. Due to the demand being maintained, the prices of Madhya Pradesh peas improved by Rs. 25/50 per quintal this week and with this improvement, the prices became Rs. 3300/3400 for Bina and Rs. 3275/3340 per quintal at the weekend.

Due to improvement in demand, the prices of pea dal improved by Rs. 50 per quintal during the current week and with this improvement, the prices became Rs. 4000/4050 for Kanpur and Rs. 44200/4250 per quintal at the weekend at Indore.
