Pea prices fall due to weak buying

Kanpur. Pea prices softened during the current week. Pea prices fell due to lack of consumer support at elevated prices and selling pressure. Demand remained weak, while stockists and suppliers were booking profits at elevated prices, creating pressure for excess supply in the market. The new pulses marketing season began in Canada in August 2025 and will continue until July 2026. According to the latest data, pea exports increased sharply to 90,741 tons in August 2025, compared to 35,439 tons in July and only 16,632 tons in August 2024. During this period, India imported a record 45,489 tons of yellow peas, making it the largest buyer of Canadian peas. Canada exported 24,05,939 tonnes of peas during the entire 2023-24 season, which declined to 21,83,525 tonnes in 2024-25. Now, with the start of the new season, pea exports are showing strength.
Due to weak buying, imported pea prices declined by Rs 25 per quintal during the current week, and at the weekend, Mumbai prices stood at Rs 3475 for Canada, Rs 3225 for Russia, Rs 3250/3275 for Mudra, and Rs 3150/3175 for Russia. Similarly, Kolkata pea prices also declined by Rs 25 per quintal this week, and at the weekend, prices stood at Rs 3700/3750 for Canada and Rs 3350/3400 for Russia. Due to weak demand, Kanpur pea prices declined by Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week, reaching Rs. 3450/3500 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Lalitpur pea prices declined by Rs. 50 per quintal this week, reaching Rs. 3000/3200 per quintal at the weekend. Rath pea prices declined by Rs. 100 per quintal this week, reaching Rs. 3100/3400 per quintal at the weekend due to weak buying. Similarly, Mahoba pea prices also declined by Rs. 50 per quintal this week, reaching Rs. 3200/3350 per quintal at the weekend. Due to the widespread decline and sluggish demand, Madhya Pradesh pea prices declined by Rs. 50 per quintal this week, reaching Rs. 3000/3100 per quintal at the weekend, and Rs. 3180/3225 per quintal at Bina and Damoh respectively.
Peas Dal
Due to falling prices of peas and weak buying, the prices of peas dal declined by Rs 50 per quintal during the current week and with this decline, the prices closed the week at Rs 3600/3650 in Kanpur and Rs 3900/3950 in Indore.
