★ Wheat supply comfortable, no need for OMSS sales at the moment – Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra
★ Speaking at the IVPA GLOBAL ROUNDTABLE @ 4.0, held at JW Marriott, Aerocity, Delhi, Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra made a significant statement regarding wheat. He said that the current wheat supply situation in the country is comfortable, and prices are well under control, hence there is no need for wheat sales under the OMSS (Open Market Sale Scheme) at this time.
★ India sold 30 lakh tons of wheat last season, while a record 100 lakh tons were sold two seasons ago.
★ He further clarified that there is no alarming situation at present, and the availability of wheat remains satisfactory.
