8 Lakh Hectares of Crops Affected by Rains in Maharashtra
★ In August, heavy rainfall was recorded in 187 talukas of Maharashtra, including Marathwada, Vidarbha, Western Maharashtra, and Northern Maharashtra. This has impacted kharif crops, with the most damage reported in Nanded, Washim, Yavatmal, and Buldhana.
★ Around 35 lakh hectares of cotton, which was in the flowering stage, has been affected by rains. In addition, pigeon pea (tur) and maize crops have also suffered damage.
★ According to experts, nearly 8 lakh hectares of crops have been damaged. The government has ordered an inquiry.
