Adequate Wheat Reserves: Ready for Public Distribution System (PDS) and Market Intervention – Food Secretary
★ In the current financial year, the government has released 3 million tons of wheat to flour millers and processors under OMSS (Open Market Sale Scheme).
★ In a written message at a conference organized by the Roller Flour Millers Federation of India (RFMFI), Food Secretary Chopra stated that the central government is committed to ensuring food security for every citizen through the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) and other welfare schemes (OWS).
★ India recorded a wheat production of 113.2 million tons in the 2023-24 crop year (July-June). A bumper crop is also expected in 2024-25.
