New Delhi. Data from the Union Ministry of Commerce reveals that during the entire fiscal year 2024-25 (April–March), agricultural products worth $51.12 billion were exported from the country; this figure rose to $52.55 billion in fiscal year 2025-26, marking an increase of 2.8 percent. The growth in export earnings from agricultural products—despite global uncertainties—comes as good news.
According to official sources, this surge in exports is the result of a balanced strategy involving improved shipments of value-added products alongside traditional commodities, as well as a sustained effort toward diversifying the categories of various export products.
Global demand for products from the agricultural and allied sectors remains robust, while the export performance of marine and horticultural products has also been encouraging. Special emphasis is being placed on value addition within these sectors, thereby ensuring that both demand and pricing remain strong in the international market.
According to available data, during the period under review, exports of pulses rose by 21.83 percent to reach $948.11 million, while exports of fresh fruits improved by 12.89 percent to reach $1.32 billion. Furthermore, exports of vegetable oils improved by 15.88 percent to reach $732.15 million,
and exports of cereal-based and processed food products improved by 7.8 percent to reach $1.01 billion. Export earnings from cashews increased by 12.21 percent to reach $379.51 million. A robust increase of 84.39 percent was recorded in the export earnings from oilseeds. Wheat exports also witnessed an increase.
