Agriculture Minister set the rabi season production target at 171 MMT
★ The minister said that the country requires 22.9 MMT of seeds, while availability is 25 MMT.
★ For the 2026 rabi season, the production targets have been set at 119 MMT for wheat, 11.8 MMT for chana, and 14 MMT for mustard.
★ The total foodgrain production for the full season (July to June) is estimated at 362.5 MMT.
★ Concerns were also raised about fertilizer shortages during the kharif season.
★ Karnataka has requested the Centre to procure kharif pulses and oilseeds.
★ Telangana has asked the government to remove the quantitative restrictions on the procurement of pulses and oilseeds, so that purchases can be made from every farmer.
