Exemption from Mandi Fee on Pulses, Oilseeds, and Wheat in Chhattisgarh
The Chhattisgarh government has announced the complete suspension of Mandi fee and Krishak Kalyan fee on pulses, oilseeds, and wheat for the period from 13 March 2024 to 31 March 2026. This exemption will provide significant relief to millions of farmers, as well as dal millers, oil plants, flour millers, and traders/stockists.
The decision comes after millers-processors requested the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh to waive the Mandi fee on imported pulses, oilseeds, and wheat for milling and processing purposes. The request was accepted, and on 17 December 2024, a notification was issued confirming the suspension of these fees across all mandis in the state.
This exemption is seen as a historic move by the Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, which has welcomed the government's decision. The industry and trade sector view it as a crucial step for strengthening both the agriculture and trade sectors, benefiting farmers and traders alike.
With this change, Chhattisgarh traders will have the opportunity to compete more effectively with neighboring states, while farmers will face fewer barriers in obtaining profitable prices for their produce. The Chief Minister has emphasized that this decision is taken in the public interest, ensuring that the general public will have access to essential products at lower prices.
This policy is expected to significantly boost the state's economy and further the protection of both farmers' and traders' interests, making it a key milestone in Chhattisgarh’s agricultural and economic development.
