New Delhi. Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), a subordinate body of the Union Ministry of Commerce, and a cooperative agency - National Cooperative Exporters Limited (NCEL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct a strategic partnership aimed at promoting and encouraging cooperative sector-led export of agricultural products from India.
The MoU was signed in the presence of senior officials, including the Union Cooperative Secretary. The MoU was signed by the Chairman of APEDA and the Managing Director of NCEL in the presence of other senior officials of the Ministry of Cooperation and the Ministry of Commerce.
The Central Government is paying special attention to making the cooperative sector strong and dynamic. The Cooperative Secretary says that the coordination of NCEL's network with APEDA's export facility will provide farmers an opportunity to get better prices and will promote livelihood generation in the rural area.
Along with this, India's position in the international export market will also be strengthened. This will also help in fulfilling the objectives of the recently launched National Cooperative Policy.
Under this partnership, special attention will be given to capacity building and training, quality compliance for export, support and development of infrastructure, participation in international trade fairs and international branding.
