Australia – Chickpea Exports Fall, Lentil Shipments Rise
★ Chickpea exports to India were negligible in July.
★ Australia exported 24,951 t of chickpeas and 89,320 t of lentils in July.
★ Chickpea exports were down 41% from June, with Pakistan the largest buyer at 21,922 t.
★ Lentil exports jumped 79%, with India (44,465 t), Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka as the main markets.
★ New-crop chickpea exports will begin next month, so August–September exports are expected to remain low.
★ Strong competition from Canada and Australia’s large crop have dampened bulk demand for lentils.
