Bangladesh will purchase soya oil, sugar and lentils for sale/distribution under open market sale
The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has taken significant steps to manage the supply of essential food items under the open market sale system. The following details summarize the key aspects of the current procurement and distribution plan:
Soybean Oil:
TCB has authorized the purchase of 55 lakh liters (5.5 million liters) of soyabean oil.
The cost for this purchase is calculated at 91.3 crore taka per tonne, which translates to 166 taka per liter.
Sugar:
TCB has approved the purchase of a total of 20,000 tons of sugar.
10,000 tons of sugar will be purchased at 116.85 crore taka per tonne, which is about 116.85 taka per kilogram.
Another 10,000 tons of sugar will be acquired at a slightly lower price of 115.85 crore taka per tonne, which is approximately 115.85 taka per kilogram.
Lentils:
TCB has passed the tender for 20,000 tons of lentils in two lots.
The first lot of 10,000 tons will be purchased at 97.97 crore taka per tonne.
The second lot of 10,000 tons will be bought at 97.22 crore taka per tonne.
Wheat Import:
Bangladesh will import 50,000 tonnes of wheat through a company called INTERNATIONAL PTE LTD.
The total cost for the wheat import is 171.68 crore taka (approximately 286.05 $/ton).
These purchases are part of the Bangladesh government’s efforts to ensure stable food supply and price control for essential commodities in the open market.
