Season 2024-25
★ Between August and February, Canada exported around 0.4 million tonnes of lentils, higher than the same period last year.
★ Total exports for the year are projected at 2.1 million tonnes, with Turkey, the UAE, and India being the top buyers.
★ Due to higher production, carry-out stocks are expected to rise. The average price is forecast to drop to $815/tonne.
★ In March, large green lentil prices in Saskatchewan dropped by $100/tonne and red lentils by $45/tonne.
★ For the year, large green lentils are expected to maintain an average premium of $550/tonne over red lentils, compared to a $785/tonne premium in 2023-24.

Season 2025-26
★ Seeded area is expected to decline slightly to 1.69 million hectares.
★ Production may drop to 2.33 million tonnes, but total supply could increase to 2.74 million tonnes due to higher carry-in stocks.
★ Exports are expected to remain at 2.1 million tonnes, while rising stocks may put pressure on prices.
★ The average price is forecast to fall further to $730/tonne.

★ According to the USDA, U.S. lentil area in 2025-26 is expected to rise by 18% to 1.1 million acres.
