Canada Market Update
Peas
★ Prices have generally remained steady or slightly down, but this year saw an earlier drop after China imposed a 100% tariff on Canadian peas.
★ There have been no significant changes in overseas markets, and reports suggest China has enough stock until summer, so demand is unlikely to shift soon.
★ Old crop yellow peas are priced at $10/bu FOB for limited prompt delivery. New crop values remain in the $8–$9/bu FOB range.
★ Green peas softened again to $15.50/bu FOB, while new crop prices are holding steady at $12.50–$13.00/bu FOB.

Lentils
★ Red lentil prices reached 33–35 cents/lb last week, while new crop bookings were slow at 28 cents/lb.
★ Both buyers and sellers are cautious due to global tariff uncertainties.
★ Green lentil markets are under pressure; large green lentils traded at 40–42 cents/lb (new crop) and 50–51 cents/lb (old crop).
★ Small greens traded at 35–37 cents/lb (new) and 45 cents/lb (old).
★ Demand is weak, and further price declines are expected.

Kabuli Chickpeas
★ The market remains quiet, but demand for smaller-sized chickpeas has picked up.
★ Old crop 7mm chickpeas are seeing bids of $0.30–$0.31/lb FOB.
★ New crop bids are at $0.32–$0.33/lb FOB, but farmer interest is low.
★ Sellers aren’t placing target offers, making it difficult for buyers.
★ Old crop is selling on a need-basis, while new crop is being held for future opportunity.
