Ottawa. Data from the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) shows that in the 50th week of the 2024-25 marketing season (August-July) i.e. in mid-July 2025, there was an outstanding surplus stock of 20.20 lakh tonnes of wheat, 11.80 lakh tonnes of canola, 1.80 lakh tonnes of soybean, 2.30 lakh tonnes of peas, 1.70 lakh tonnes of maize and 1.50 lakh tonnes of lentils inside Canada.

It is worth noting that the CGC data is not an indicator of the stock or export shipment of the entire country, but it includes the same figures that are provided to it by registered members of various categories.

According to the CGC report, during the 2024-25 marketing season, compared to the 2023-24 season, wheat exports from Canada increased from 207.40 lakh tonnes to 220.50 lakh tonnes, canola shipment jumped from 68.20 lakh tonnes to 94.90 lakh tonnes,

soybean exports increased from 33.70 lakh tonnes to 38.80 lakh tonnes, maize shipment jumped from 15.70 lakh tonnes to 29.60 lakh tonnes and lentil exports improved from 9.20 lakh tonnes to 10.20 lakh tonnes, but pea exports fell from 18.40 lakh tonnes to 17.80 lakh tonnes.

This export figure is based only on the details given by limited exporters. It should be known that the data on production, stock and export is complete from the government agency - Stats Can and it represents the whole of Canada.

The reality is that the actual export of peas and lentils has been much higher than the CGC figures and this is also applicable for the export of other products.

For the previous week, CGC gave export figures of 4.30 lakh tons of wheat, 60 thousand tons of canola and 20 thousand tons of maize from Canada, while no export figures were released for soybean, peas and lentils.

For the previous week, the Commission's export figures were 5.60 lakh tons for wheat, 2 lakh tons for canola, 20 thousand tons for soybean, 10 thousand tons for peas and 30 thousand tons for lentils.
