Chana prices recover on subdued selling and increased demand from pulse mills; up by ₹50 in Delhi

The domestic chana (chickpea) market saw a recovery during the evening session, driven by a decline in selling at lower price levels and increased interest from pulse millers.

With limited selling by stockists coupled with higher procurement by pulse mills, chana prices in Delhi rose by ₹50 per quintal.

Following this uptick, prices for chana from the Madhya Pradesh region reached ₹7,275–7,300 per quintal, while those from the Rajasthan region climbed to ₹7,325–7,350 per quintal in the Delhi market.

The market found support due to restricted selling at lower price points and heightened activity from pulse mills. Meanwhile, imported Australian chana also saw an increase of ₹75–100 per quintal, as selling pressure from importers eased.

Consequently, the price of Australian chana reached ₹7,425 per quintal in Mumbai, and ₹7,300–7,325 per quintal at the Mundra-Kandla ports. Overall, the chana market has been bolstered by subdued selling and growing demand from pulse mills.

However, whether this upward trend continues will depend on future procurement by pulse mills, the selling behavior of stockists, and the availability of imported chana.
