Raipur: Chhattisgarh’s Food and Supplies Minister has directed rice millers to speed up the supply of custom milled rice to Food Corporation of India (FCI) warehouses and lift the remaining paddy stock from government purchase centers promptly.
During a meeting with Markfed officials, the Minister expressed concern over the slow pace of paddy movement and rice delivery, warning that delays could lead to logistical challenges.
He emphasized that the state continues to procure paddy at Minimum Support Price (MSP) in large quantities, with a focus on supporting farmers.
Highlighting Chhattisgarh’s major contribution to the central rice pool, he urged officials to begin preparations for the upcoming Kharif marketing season, review existing procurement centers, and propose new ones if required.
The Minister also stressed the need to minimize the distance between procurement and storage centers to cut down on transportation costs.
