The USDA reported two private sales of 2025/26 corn this morning. One sale was of 100,000 MT to Colombia, and another was of 195,000 MT to unknown destinations.
The NASS Crop Progress data indicated that as of Sunday, 11% of the U.S. corn crop had been planted, which is 2% ahead of the 5-year average pace of 9%. Planting in Iowa was just 2% complete, lagging the 8% average, while the three main Eastern Corn Belt states were well ahead of normal. The crop was also 4% emerged, which is 2 percentage points faster than normal.
The USDA’s Attaché in Argentina increased their corn production outlook for the country to 60 million metric tons, well above the official USDA World Agricultural Outlook Board estimate of 52 million metric tons.
