ICE cotton futures closed Monday’s session 21 to 54 points higher across most contracts. Crude oil prices fell by $2.08, while the US Dollar Index increased by 0.191 points.
According to the weekly Crop Progress report, 81% of the US cotton crop had set bolls as of Sunday, while 20% of the crop had reached the boll-opening stage. Crop condition ratings fell 1 percentage point to 37% good to excellent. The Brugler500 index also declined by 6 points to 304.
The Cotlook A Index fell 70 points on Friday to 98.20 cents per pound. ICE certified cotton stocks declined by 1,749 bales on August 21, bringing certified stocks to 68,894 bales. The Adjusted World Price was increased by 143 points last week to 69.62 cents per pound.
