According to this week’s NASS Crop Progress report, 62% of the US spring wheat crop had been harvested by Sunday. This was 10% ahead of the normal pace and represented a 21% increase from the previous week. Crop condition ratings fell 1% to 51% good to excellent. The Brugler500 index declined by 3 points to 341. This is the final condition rating for the crop.
Monday’s weekly Export Inspections report showed US wheat shipments of 425,668 metric tons during the week ending August 20. This was down 17.24% from the previous week and 59.35% below the same week last year. The Philippines was the largest destination at 117,217 metric tons, followed by South Korea with 78,033 metric tons and Japan with 72,335 metric tons. Total wheat shipments for the marketing year have reached 4.337 million metric tons, which is 26.07% below the same period last year.
