The domestic production of coriander in India for the 2024-25 season is projected to be 136 lakh bags, with Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan being the major contributors.
The total sowing area for coriander has reached 3,80,474 hectares nationwide, with Madhya Pradesh leading at 2,84,420 hectares, followed by Gujarat and Rajasthan.
The estimated production figures suggest that Madhya Pradesh will produce the highest amount at 70 lakh bags, Gujarat will contribute 50 lakh bags, and Rajasthan is expected to produce 16 lakh bags.
In addition to the expected production, there is a carryover stock of 45 lakh bags from the previous season, bringing the total supply to 181 lakh bags.
This supply will be balanced by an estimated domestic consumption of 150 lakh bags, while around 18-20 lakh bags are expected to be exported, bringing the total consumption to 168-170 lakh bags.
The remaining surplus at the end of the marketing season is projected to be between 11 and 13 lakh bags.
Given the supply-demand dynamics, the market price of coriander is likely to remain relatively strong in the coming months.
