Drop in rice demand from Bangladesh
★ Recently, Bangladesh had approved the import of 1 MMT of rice.
★ Initially, the offtake was good, but demand has now weakened.
★ As a result, prices of Swarna, Sona Mansuri, and Govind Bhog rice have declined.
★ The main reason is that Bangladeshi importers are unable to open letters of credit through banks, which has restricted large-scale exports.
