Edible Oil Imports: SEA Report
★ In March 2025, India's total vegetable oil imports stood at 998,344 tonnes — a 16% drop compared to March 2024. This included 970,602 tonnes of edible oils and 27,742 tonnes of non-edible oils.
★ During the oil year 2024-25 (November to March), total imports reached 5,806,142 tonnes, a slight decline of 0.4% compared to the previous year.
★ As of April 1, 2025, total oil stock stood at 1,666,000 tonnes, down by 213,000 tonnes from March 1.
★ Refined oil (RBD palmolein) imports dropped to 662,890 tonnes, while crude oil imports rose to 4,976,787 tonnes.
★ Palm oil imports declined to 2.4 million tonnes, while soft oil imports rose to 3.2 million tonnes.
★ Palm oil's share in total imports decreased from 61% to 43%, whereas soft oil's share increased from 39% to 57%.
