Hyderabad. Although the price of rice in the international market has currently risen to the lowest level in the last eight years and paddy crops have also been damaged due to natural calamities in some areas of India and Pakistan, despite this,
industry-trade analysts believe that the supply and availability of rice will remain smooth at the global level, due to which its price may come down further in the coming months.
According to a leading research agency, this year India received very heavy monsoon rains, which may cause some damage to the paddy crop.
Although the forecast of the Meteorological Department that this time the country will receive more rainfall than the normal average proved to be correct, but the crop has also suffered a setback due to heavy surplus rain in some areas.
On the other hand, the report of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) says that due to better production in countries like Brazil and Colombia, the global production of rice is expected to increase this time, but due to the decrease in exports from India and Pakistan, the global trade of rice may decrease somewhat. Global consumption of rice will also decrease. Rice consumption in Myanmar and America may decrease.
Global consumption of rice will also decrease. Rice consumption in Myanmar and America may decrease. Due to low consumption, the global outstanding surplus stock of rice will increase and its stock may increase especially in India and Pakistan.
A report by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a subordinate agency of the United Nations, said that during the month of August, the global market price of rice and wheat fell to the lowest level in the last several years because its supply and availability conditions remained easy and demand remained weak.
According to the FAO report, global production of rice is estimated to increase from 54.99 crore tonnes in the 2024-25 season to 55.54 crore tonnes in the 2025-26 season. This may keep the pressure on prices intact.
